Russian Security Council official sees extreme danger in current volatile global situation

Alexey Shevtsov pointed out that the decision of the United States, the European Union and NATO "to support the criminal Kiev regime and defeat Russia on the battlefield" had put an end to the years-long discussion on building a European security architecture

MINSK, October 27. /TASS/. The world is currently facing a very perilous situation, which is mainly attributable to the destructive actions of Western countries, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Alexey Shevtsov said.

"We consider the situation worldwide as extremely precarious. A destructive role is being played by the Western countries, primarily the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance, which is under its control," he said in a speech delivered in Minsk to the international conference "Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World."

The text of the speech was released by the Russian Security Council’s press service.

Shevtsov pointed out that the decision of the United States, the European Union and NATO "to support the criminal Kiev regime and defeat Russia on the battlefield" had put an end to the years-long discussion on building a European security architecture.

"Even before the start of the special military operation, the Western handlers of the Ukrainian leadership had dismissed Russian proposals on security guarantees," the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council said.

According to Shevtsov, nobody doubts that the tectonic shifts in the system of international relations being seen today and the transition to a multipolar world order are now irreversible.

"This objective trend is absolutely rejected by the Western minority, which in an attempt to preserve its global hegemony does not hesitate to resort to any means available: from unilateral sanctions to hybrid warfare. Russia and Belarus are a vivid example of targets for such Western hybrid aggression," he said.
