MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and his Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri Kani have discussed the situation around the UN Security Council’s resolution on ending sanctions on Tehran, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Special attention was paid to the situation around the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, including in light of the expiration of some of its provisions related to the Iranian missile program, international cooperation with Tehran in this field and the asset freeze of certain Iranian individuals and entities," the statement reads.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that the parties had reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to their "international obligations under the resolution, given the carefully calibrated balance of interests enshrined in the document, which was undermined by regular flagrant violations of UNSC requirements by the US, the European Union and the United Kingdom." "Several other regional and international issues were also touched upon," the ministry added.
Earlier, the Iranian deputy foreign minister stated that the restrictions imposed on Tehran by UN Security Council Resolution 2231 had expired on October 18 and their list would be removed from the United Nations website.
