MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. Russia’s government agencies, media outlets, critical infrastructure facilities and essential services are targeted by potent hacking attacks virtually daily, Russian State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov said.
"Ensuring global information security is a serious challenge nowadays. It is no secret for anyone that information aggression, among others, is directed against our country," the diplomat said at a plenary session of a conference on digital foreign relations held at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University). "Practically daily, massive hacking attacks target Russian government institutions, media outlets, critical infrastructure facilities and essential services. Our ministry is not an exception here," he added.
The senior diplomat noted that special attention should be given to "the tasks of protecting the relevant systems of state power bodies, including the Foreign Ministry and missions abroad." "We need to fine-tune these measures on a regular basis, including preventing data leaks, detecting break-ins, restoring affected systems and other issues," he stressed.
Additionally, Ivanov noted that it is necessary to take into account the nature of diplomatic work. "We are working on this daily and in detail with our colleagues from relevant agencies and ministries," he added.
