LUGANSK, September 23. /TASS/. The parliament of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) have unanimously elected Leonid Pasechnik as LPR head at its plenary session, TASS correspondent reported.
All the 49 deputies who attended the parliamentary session supported Pasechnik. One of the members of the LPR parliament was delegated to the Federation Council.
"I hereby resolve to elect Leonid Ivanovich Pasechnik as head of the Lugansk People’s Republic for a five-year term. The resolution enters into effect on the day of its adoption," Speaker of the LPR parliament Denis Miroshnichenko read out the resolution.
The resolution of the LPR parliament will be submitted to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The head of the Lugansk People’s Republic is top executive official in the region, who forms the LPR government and ensures the coordinated operation and interaction of public bodies. According to the constitution passed by the LPR People’s Council (parliament) last December, the head of the republic is elected by the LPR parliament by secret ballot for a five-year term.
