Ukraine uses NATO equipment on frontline near Kherson more often — Russian military

A senior gunner of the MLRS system noted that the Uragan crews knew the weaknesses of the US M1 Abrams and German Leopard 2 tanks well enough and were ready for their appearance on the battlefield

MOSCOW, January 31. /TASS/. /TASS/. Ukraine’s army has begun to use NATO equipment more often on the frontline in the Kherson Region, a soldier from the crew of a Russian MLRS Uragan has told the media.

"Ever more NATO hardware appears. Of course, we are keen to destroy it. So far, we have been successful," the soldier said.

Recently, an MLRS Grad destroyed a Polish self-propelled howitzer Krab on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson Region. "We hit a Polish self-propelled howitzer Krab. We also hit clusters of equipment and mortar sections. We have been fighting for a long time and have many hit targets to our credit," he said. The commander of a combat vehicle added that earlier the crew also destroyed several clusters of the Ukrainian army’s equipment, including US M777 howitzers.

According to a TASS correspondent, multiple launch rocket systems Uragan and Grad have carried out more strikes on Ukrainian infantry on the right bank of the Dnieper.

"Our commanders have identified the target. The task is to destroy enemy infantry," said the commander of a combat vehicle.

A senior gunner of the MLRS system noted that the Uragan crews knew the weaknesses of the US M1 Abrams and German Leopard 2 tanks well enough and were ready for their appearance on the battlefield. "We keep high-explosive shells handy," he added.

The US authorities previously announced their intention to send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev. In turn, the German government confirmed that it would send Ukraine 14 Leopard 2 tanks from the reserves of the Bundeswehr and issue permits for re-export to other countries.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with Die Welt that the alliance was not and did not intend to become a party to the conflict in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova slammed this as a lie. She pointed out that Western countries were supplying Kiev with "weapons and military equipment, training Ukrainian military and pumping Ukraine with money" so that it could continue hostilities against Russia. Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said that Russian forces would destroy US M1 Abrams tanks, as well as other military equipment from NATO countries, should the US administration supply it to Ukraine.
