Russian forces strike Ukrainian commandos attempting Zaporozhye night breakthrough

The regional official later specified in a live broadcast on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio that the Ukrainian group consisted of about 10 commandos

MELITOPOL, January 31. /TASS/. Russian forces promptly delivered a strike on a Ukrainian commando group attempting to break through in the Zaporozhye Region at night, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia public movement, said on Tuesday.

"Our reconnaissance squads detected the Ukrainian commandos moving along the front line at night. Artillery promptly delivered a strike against the adversary group and an AGS [automatic grenade launcher] team fired an accurate burst. Only one saboteur stood up and ran away after the bursts by the automatic grenade launcher," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The regional official later specified in a live broadcast on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio that the Ukrainian group consisted of about 10 commandos. Most likely, these were the Ukrainian special operations forces or military intelligence, he said.

"Their task was very easy: after the loss of the first defensive line [by the Ukrainian military] now that our fighters have very efficiently moved the engagement line in the Zaporozhye Region through reconnaissance by fire, this was an attempt to launch an attack into the depth of our strongholds to ferret out how well we have gained a foothold," he said.
