Official reveals number of localities under Russia’s control in Kharkov Region

On September 10, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced the regrouping of Russian troops near Balakleya and Izyum in the Kharkov Region to step up efforts in Donbass

MOSCOW, January 31. /TASS/. Russian forces currently control around 25 localities in the Kharkov Region, which have been constantly attacked of late, the head of the region’s military-civilian administration, Vitaly Ganchev, said on Tuesday.

"Nobody will tell you how many settlements there are in the gray zone. The situation on the frontline is volatile. I can say that about 25 localities are under the Russian Federation’s control now," he said.

According to Ganchev, "the situation there is difficult, of course," with Ukraine’s incessant shelling.

On September 10, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced the regrouping of Russian troops near Balakleya and Izyum in the Kharkov Region to step up efforts in Donbass. The region’s military-civilian administration urged locals to evacuate, to Russia, too. Ganchev said earlier that some 70,000 people had left the region, with the bulk of them currently staying in the Belgorod and the Voronezh regions, Russia’s southern Krasnodar Territory and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).
