Russia has no intention to cooperate with OPCW team on Douma incident — Foreign Ministry

The IIT performs the mission to justify the aggression of the US, the UK and France against Syria, and Russia condemns the Western manipulation of this once respected body, the Ministry added

MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. Russia has no intention in principle to cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Investigation and Identification Team (IIT) working on the chemical incident in the Syrian city of Douma, as Moscow considers this body illegitimate, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the another IIT report on the incident, which happened on April 7, 2018.

"In regards to the accusations, contained in the report, that we have not provided any information to the IIT that could have supported the Russian version about a chemical provocation, Russia, just like a number of other states, considers this body illegitimate and, as it has been repeatedly stated, has no intention to cooperate with it out of principal considerations," the statement says.

The IIT performs the mission to justify the aggression of the US, the UK and France against Syria, and Russia condemns the Western manipulation of this once respected body, the Ministry added.

"It is obvious that the ITT was given a task (which it failed to fulfill) justify the aggression of the US, the UK and France against Syria, who carried out a massive missile strike on Syrian civilian and military facilities on April 14, 2018 - literally one week after the staged chemical incident - in violation of basic norms and principles of international law. We condemn such Western manipulation of the respected international body," the Ministry noted.
