No discussion of travel restrictions in Russia, Kremlin spokesman says

The question came after Russia’s State Duma (the lower house of parliament) had put forward an initiative to mandate the booking of border crossing times for trucks

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. The Kremlin is not considering the possibility of restricting Russians from leaving the country, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

When asked if new exit bans could be introduced and whether the Kremlin was considering such a possibility, he said: "No, no such discussions are underway at the Kremlin."

The question came after Russia’s State Duma (the lower house of parliament) had put forward an initiative to mandate the booking of border crossing times for trucks. Lawmakers explained that the initiative did not concern passenger cars and was aimed at making sure that there were no long lines at border crossings.

When commenting on the idea, Peskov pointed out that the State Duma had already provided clarifications on the matter.
