Mop-up operation completed in liberated community near Soledar, says DPR leader

The DPR territorial defense headquarters reported on January 23 that Russian forces had liberated the communities of Dvurechye and Krasnopolyevka

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Russian forces completed their mop-up operation in the liberated community of Krasnopolyevka near Soledar, acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin said on Tuesday.

"Krasnopolyevka has been mopped up and now we can also talk about Dvurechye," Pushilin said in a live broadcast on the Soloviev Live TV channel.

The DPR territorial defense headquarters reported on January 23 that Russian forces had liberated the communities of Dvurechye and Krasnopolyevka. Russia’s Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the settlement of Dvurechye by Russian troops on January 21.

Both communities are located close to Soledar. Soledar is located about 100 km north of Donetsk and was part of the Ukrainian army’s Artyomovsk-Soledar-Seversk continuous defensive line until recently. Soledar was liberated from the Ukrainian military on January 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov earlier said that full control over Soledar enables Russia’s troops to cut off the Ukrainian army’s supply routes in Artyomovsk (called Bakhmut in Ukraine) located southwest of the salt mining town and subsequently seal off and entrap the Ukrainian military entrenched there.
