Threat of Ukrainian strikes on industrial facilities in Energodar remains — Mayor

MELITOPOL, January 20. /TASS/. Strikes by Ukraine’s armed forces on Energodar in the Zaporozhye Region are not systemic but the risk of industrial facilities being destroyed remains, head of the city administration Eduard Senovoz said on Friday.

"As for industrial facilities, there are still bombardments, they are not systemic, <...> the danger of the destruction of industrial facilities remains," he said in a video recording published on the city administration’s Telegram channel.

Earlier, Renat Karchaa, adviser to the chief executive of Russia’s Rosenergoatom nuclear power plant operator, said that since the year began, units of the Ukrainian army have not shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. According to him, strikes using Ukrainian shells have been recorded only in Energodar’s industrial zone and along the shoreline. In a conversation with TASS, he stressed that the shelling of the nuclear facility by Ukrainian troops stopped due to the possibility of much more substantial retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
