Kremlin redirects question on air defense system deployment in Moscow

The Defense Ministry is responsible for providing our country’s security in general and the capital in particular, Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry is responsible for the country’s security and as for Moscow, therefore the possible deployment of air defense systems in the Russian capital should be addressed directly to that ministry, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

"I would like to redirect you here with this question to the Defense Ministry," Peskov told journalists when asked to comment on recent claims circulating along social media that air defense systems would be stationed in Moscow.

"They [the Defense Ministry] are responsible for providing our country’s security in general and the capital in particular," he continued.

"It is better to address such questions to the Defense Ministry," Peskov said in response to a question whether the recent allegations on the issue surged as a result of the authorities’ anticipation of assaults on Moscow, including with the use of drones.
