Putin never refuses from contacts with foreign leaders — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister added that other members of the Russian government behave in the same way

MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking Russian officials never refuse from contacts with their foreign colleagues, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with France’s TF1 television channel.

"We never foist ourselves on anyone. If anyone wants to speak to us, Russian President Vladimir Putin never refuses his colleagues who ask for a telephone conversation or a personal meeting. Everyone knows that. The foreign minister and other members of the Russian government behave in the same way," he said.

The Kremlin regularly informs about Putin’s contacts with foreign leaders. Thus, on Saturday, Putin spoke over the phone with the German and French leaders in the trilateral format for the first time since March 12. However, the Russian president had separate phone calls with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz not long ago: on May 3 and on May 13, respectively.

On May 30, Putin plans to have a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
