Putin calls for giving thought to creating state system of information protection

The President pointed out that enhancing the protection of cyber systems and communication networks in the bodies of government was one of the most important tasks

MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. Russian President Vladmir Putin has suggested giving thought to creation of a government system of information protection.

"I believe it will be expedient to consider creation of a government system of information protection. I am waiting for your concrete proposals for further steps to be taken to ensure a stable operation of the information infrastructure in the bodies of power and public administration," Putin said at a meeting of Russia’s Security Council on Friday.

He pointed out that enhancing the protection of cyber systems and communication networks in the bodies of government was one of the most important tasks. He remarked that checks conducted in 2021 indicated that most resources there were vulnerable to massive attacks and destructive external influences, particularly those using foreign technologies of the latest generation.

"The defenses of the domestic cyberspace must be protected. There must be no weaknesses. It is fundamentally important to minimize the risk of leaks of confidential information and people’s personal data in various ways, including stricter control of the rules of using office equipment and communication resources," Putin said.
