Lavrov expresses condolences to families of those killed in Ukraine

The top diplomat stressed that Russian military personnel who participate in a special military operation had strict orders to use only high-precision weapons to decapacitate military infrastructure

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of those killed in Ukraine.

"Any human life is priceless, any hostilities are associated unfortunately with victims, not only among military personnel, but also among civilians. Our military personnel who participate in a special [military] operation have strict orders to use only high-precision weapons to decapacitate military infrastructure. Even the barracks where Ukrainian servicemen are located are not subject to any attack, any strikes. I can only express my condolences to all those who are relatives, friends of [the casualties]," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the leaders of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian head of state stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops were not delivering strikes against Ukrainian cities. It emphasized that Ukrainian military infrastructure was being destroyed through the use of precision weapons. Civilians are not threatened, the Russian military assured.
