MOSCOW, February 3 /TASS/. An article, published in The Lancet journal, confirmed that the accelerated registration of the Sputnik V vaccine in Russia was justified, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov believes.
"This is a very important publication that has very convincingly demonstrated the reliability and efficiency of the Russian vaccine, and has also confirmed that the accelerated registration of the vaccine in Russia was justified," the spokesman said.
He reminded that "the number of countries that register this vaccine grows every day."
"Russia works actively to respond to requests of various countries who ask to ensure the shipment of this vaccine," Peskov said.
"Of course, internal Russian demand is the top priority," he said.
"But we plan to establish the production of the vaccine abroad as shortly as possible, making it possible to satisfy the demand of more and more countries for this vaccine," the spokesman said, adding that its "reliability and efficiency are completely proven."
On Tuesday, The Lancet published the results of the third phase of Sputnik V, which confirm the vaccine’s high efficiency and safety. It efficiency is estimated at about 91.7%. COVID-19 antibodies were found in about 98% of volunteers.
