Relationship potential ‘tossed into the garbage’: Kremlin chides EU on its Russia policy

The Kremlin spokesman said that the European Union countries “simply tossed into the garbage" the potential of relations with Russia, chiding such a move as absolutely thoughtless and unreasonable

MOSCOW, January 31. /TASS/. The Kremlin regrets that for no apparent reason Europe is “tossing” the potential of relations with Russia “into the garbage” even though the present-day challenges necessitate dialogue, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday.

The Kremlin press secretary castigated member states of the European Union for having “simply tossed into the garbage" the potential of relations with Russia, chiding such a move as absolutely thoughtless and unreasonable. The large number of challenges facing all these countries "requires dialogue," he said in an interview with the Moscow.Kremlin.Putin program on the Rossiya-1 TV channel. "But every day we hear statements. And we are not happy with that."

In his speech to the Davos Agenda 2021 summit on January 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Europe should return to a positive agenda and work towards boosting trade and economic cooperation. According to the Russian leader, the current situation "is apparently not normal." He also said that dialogue between Russia and Europe required honesty and should be free of any phobias and past problems.
