Russian emergencies ministry points to proof of arson in Ryazan Region’s wildfires

DEULINO /Ryazan Region/, August 25. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry has information about cases of arson in the Ryazan Region’s woodlands, Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov told reporters on Thursday.

"We can see certain signs of sabotage. There are elements of arson at the heart of the blaze," he noted. According to Kurenkov, the information is being verified and investigative agencies will look into these facts. The minister emphasized that the authorities expected locals to provide information as to who could have been involved in such activities.

Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin arrived in the Ryazan Region on Thursday. They toured the affected area in a helicopter to assess the wildfire situation.
