One individual dies in fire at Ufa plant

A source told TASS earlier that two methane-hydrogen tanks with the capacity of 25 cubic meters were on fire at the plant

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. One individual died as a result of the fire outbreak at the Ufa-based Ufaorgsintez plant, the press service of the regional department of the Emergencies Ministry said on Monday.

"Information is available about one fatality. One more individual was injured; he was delivered to Hospital No. 21 in Ufa," the press service said.

The jet fire of two tanks with petroleum products continues now. At the moment, 127 firemen and 44 vehicles are involved in the response.

A source told TASS earlier that two methane-hydrogen tanks with the capacity of 25 cubic meters were on fire at the plant. One of them collapsed and a plant worker was injured. The fire broke out on an open site.

Ufaorgsintez specializes in gas processing and oil refining. The plant produces polypropylene, polyethylene, phenol, acetone and other petrochemical products.
