BEIJING, October 20. /TASS/. Russia and the Asia Pacific countries should join efforts in developing trade and economic cooperation, Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, said on Thursday.

"Russia has all opportunities to make a considerable contribution to developing the Asia Pacific. A large part of natural resources of the whole region is located on the territory of the Far East," Trutned said at the opening of the 7th China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR-2016).

"Development of logistical opportunities of the Far East creates new paths and changes the transport logistics of the world," he added.

Trutnev also noted that "Chinese investors firmly occupy the first place among foreign investors in the Russian economy." Several large projects are being implemented in the Far East with participation of Chinese capital, he said.

COIFAIR-2016 is held in Beijing on October 20-21. Among participants are 86 companies from 21 Russian regions.

Last year, representatives of 14 Russian regions brought projects worth $1.5 billion to COFAIR in Beijing.
