SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, March 25. /TASS/. Turkey hopes that the first power generating unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP) will be launched in the near time, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar told reporters on the sidelines of the Atomexpo-2024 forum.

"Concerning the Akkuyu project - we expect in the near time that first electric power generated at this nuclear power plant will reach consumers; [we] plan to start the first power generating unit," the minister said.

Construction of the second, the third, and the fourth units is also planned to be completed in time, Bayraktar noted. "We endeavor to implement this project within the established timeframe without delays," he added.
