Tunisian company passes organic certification in Russia

Certificate granting means that the manufacturer meets all the organic production requirements set forth in national standards

MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. A Tunisian olives and olive oil producer has successfully completed organic certification in Russia, the Russian Quality System nonprofit organization (Roskachestvo) told TASS.

"The first enterprise from Africa has obtained the organic status after completing the certification procedure with the Roskachestvo-Organic certification authority. The Tunisian producer Cho Company Sfax-Tunisia from the city of Sfax has successfully passed the two-tire certification procedure - a documents check and an audit of production with sampling and laboratory studies - and now has the certificate for olives and olive oil," the quality authority said.

Certificate granting means that the manufacturer meets all the organic production requirements set forth in national standards, Roskachestvo said. "Only availability of a relevant certificate makes a manufacturer eligible for marking its produce as organic," it added.
