Russian organizations face wave of targeted cyber attacks in Q3 2023

During this period, the number of such confirmed cases exceeded 10,000

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russian organizations from July to September faced a fresh wave of cyber attacks that were more complex and, most importantly, targeted. The number of confirmed attacks surpassed 10,000, with the share of highly serious instances increasing by more than half, according to the report from information security company Solar.

During the time period under consideration, hackers began to utilize increasingly advanced malware that could not be identified by traditional detection techniques. And they did not take the "break" that was seen last year throughout the summer, which accounts for the majority of the quarter. All of this resulted in 16% more attacks compared to the Q2 of 2023.

Solar examined around 300 organizations with a number of employees of over 1,000 from all areas of the economy. More than 396,000 information security events were recognized at these companies throughout that time, which is 22% more than the previous quarter.
