Withdrawal from EU’s UGS at lowest since November, Ukraine transit at 40 mln cubic meters

Gas withdrawal from UGS facilities in the EU countries on April 9, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), amounted to 36 million cubic meters

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Gas withdrawal from European underground gas storage (UGS) facilities has dropped to the lowest level since November 2022 as air temperatures are growing in the region. Gazprom supplies gas to Europe through Ukraine in the volume of 40 mln cubic meters per day via the Sudzha gas pumping station.

"Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through Ukrainian territory in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side via the Sudzha gas pumping station of 40 mln cubic meters as of April 11. The request for the Sokhranovka gas pumping station has been rejected," a Gazprom representative told reporters. On Monday, April 10, the pumping equaled 37.4 mln cubic meters.

Earlier it was reported on the website of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) that the requests for transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory on April 11 totaled 40 mln cubic meters via Sudzha. The transit line through Ukraine remains the only route to supply Russian gas to western and central European countries. The pumping through Nord Stream has been fully suspended.

Gas withdrawal from UGS facilities in the EU countries on April 9, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), amounted to 36 million cubic meters. At the same time, the injection amounted to 200 million cubic meters.

The heating season started in Europe on November 14. Since then, EU countries have withdrawn 51.84 bln cubic meters of gas from UGS facilities, which are 55.55% full (20.253 percentage points higher than the average as of this date in the past five years) with around 60.55 bln cubic meters of gas stored in them.
