Crimean Bridge to be closed temporarily to motor vehicles, buses on January 20

A truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, 2022

MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. The Crimean Bridge will be temporarily closed to cars and buses on January 20 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Moscow time for repair work, the Russian Transport Ministry said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Wednesday.

"Restrictions on the movement of transport will be imposed on the motor road approaches to the Crimean bridge at 12 noon on January 20, with the road part of the bridge to be fully closed from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Moscow time) for repair and recovery activities," the statement reads.

The Federal Road Transport Agency noted that the traffic restriction on the Crimean bridge is related to dismantling of the four damaged sections of the highway’s left side.

A truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, 2022, causing several fuel tanks of a train to catch fire. Two spans of the bridge’s roadway toward the peninsula collapsed. On December 5, 2022, motor vehicle traffic on the right part of the bridge’s highway section was resumed. Repair activities are currently underway to reconstruct the left side of the bridge’s highway section.
