Unfriendly actions should not affect economy of Kaliningrad region — Putin

The Russian leader assured that the actions taken by the authorities to ensure the development of the Kaliningrad region will be stepped up, "providing this very reliability"

ST. PETERSBURG, October 10. /TASS/. Possible unfriendly actions should not affect the development of the economy of the Kaliningrad region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the elected heads of regions on Monday.

"Of course, Kaliningrad is one of the most important regions of Russia, our outpost in the West, and everything must be done to ensure that people's lives are stable, and no possible disruptions due to unfriendly actions would affect the vital activity of the economy," the head of state said.

"Of course, such components as prices and investment attractiveness are extremely important. No less important is the stability of the operation of the entire infrastructure, its independence," Putin went on.

He assured that the actions taken by the authorities to ensure the development of the Kaliningrad region will be stepped up, "providing this very reliability."

"Let's not forget about the economic attractiveness. It is very strong in that region, I am sure it will only get stronger," the President stressed.

Putin praised the work of Kaliningrad Region Governor Anton Alikhanov, who has been in charge of the region since 2017 and was elected governor for a second term this September.

"In general, you’ve been succeeding, you are confidently overcoming all the difficulties the region is facing, the results of your work for the previous period are good," the head of state said whishing Alikhanov success in his future work.
