US-led coalition’s aircraft violate Syrian airspace ten times in past day

Four violations of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019 linked with the flights by the coalition drones were reported in Syria

MOSCOW, October 22. /TASS/. The US-led coalition’s fighter jets and drones violated Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area ten times during the past day, Vadim Kulit, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian defense ministry), said on Sunday.

"Three pairs of F-15 and two pairs of F-16 fighter jets, as well as two MQ-1C multi-role unmanned aerial vehicles violated Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area, across which international air routes run, ten times during the day," he said.

According to Kulit, four violations of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019 linked with the flights by the coalition drones were reported in Syria in the past 24 hours.

"The coalition continues to create dangerous situation that may cause air accident or incidents and escalate the situation in Syria’s airspace," he said.

Israel delivered airstrikes on the infrastructure of airports in Syria’s Damascus and Aleppo on Sunday morning, disrupting their operation, Kulit said.

"At 5:22 a.m. and 5:33 a.m. on October 22, three F-15 and four F-16 tactical fighter jects of the Israeli Air Force delivered strikes on the infrastructure of the Duvali (Damascus) and Nayrab (Aleppo) airports from the Mediterranean Sea, without entering Syria’s airspace. As a result of the Israeli airstrikes, runways were partially damaged. The airports’ operation was disrupted," he said.
