Ukrainian troops continue to shell liberated Soledar — expert

According to a colonel of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Ukrainian troops are seeking to incur maximum damage

LUGANSK, January 31. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops are regularly shelling the liberated city of Soledar from Kiev-controlled areas in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Vitaly Kiselev, a colonel of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) and a military expert, told TASS on Tuesday.

"Shelling attacks on Soledar are staged [by Ukrainian troops] from Slavyansk, Krasnaya Gora, Chasovoy Yar. Ukrainian troops are seeking to incur maximum damage not only to the villages and cities in the rear but also to the recently liberated cities," he said, adding that the operation to liberate Soledar’s neighborhoods continues.

Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin said on Sunday that Soledar’s suburb of Blagodatnoye had come under the control of Russian forces.

On January 12 Russian troops had liberated Soledar after days of fierce fighting. According to Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, control over Soledar will make it possible to block channels of supplies to Ukrainian forces in Artyomovsk located southwest of Soledar and later encircle them there.
