Freeing Malinovka to enable Russian forces to tighten grip around Gulyaipole — politician

The ferocity of fighting intensified on the Zaporozhye frontline during the past week

MELITOPOL, January 31. /TASS/. The liberation of the community of Malinovka to the east of Gulyaipole will empower Russian forces to semi-encircle the city, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, told TASS on Tuesday, commenting on a missile strike against the 102nd Ukrainian brigade’s stronghold in that area.

As the politician said earlier on Tuesday, Gulyaipole and Orekhov are the main directions to the city of Zaporozhye where the Ukrainian army had created a new line of defense.

"Malinovka has changed hands several times since March 2022. It is important because essentially it is practically the gates to Gulyaipole. The liberation of Malinovka, much like the populated localities of Chervonoye and Zeleny Gay, makes it possible to enter Gulyaipole from one of the main directions, the east. Given that Dorozhnyanka in the south is also ours, a semi-encirclement of the city is being created," he said.

The ferocity of fighting intensified on the Zaporozhye frontline during the past week. The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the Lobkovoye settlement in the Zaporozhye Region on January 20. Rogov said later that Russia’s forces had advanced towards the city of Gulyaipole along the Pologi sector of the line of contact, taking control of several Ukrainian strongholds.
