Units of Russian Armed Forces establish control over five settlements - Defense Ministry

Units of the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the settlements of Novoukrainskoye, Staromayorskoye, Staromlynovka, Mayorovo and Removka

MOSCOW, March 7./TASS/. Units of the Russian Armed Forces have established control over five settlements, Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov told a briefing on Monday.

"Units of the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the settlements of Novoukrainskoye, Staromayorskoye, Staromlynovka, Mayorovo and Removka. All civilians of the liberated settlements receive humanitarian assistance," Konashenkov added.

Troops of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics have established control over 12 settlements, Konashenkov said.

"Continuing an offensive, groups of forces of the Lugansk People’s Republic took under their control the settlements of Kudryashovka, Voronov, Metelkino, Medvezhye, <…> Petrovka and Alexandrovka," Konashenkov said. Units of the DPR people’s militias established control over five settlements, including Berezovoye, Yasnoye, Maksimovka and Valeryanovka, he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 launched a special military operation in Ukraine following a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He said Moscow had no plans for an occupation of Ukrainian territories. The sole purpose is the country’s demilitarization and denazification. The Russian Defense Ministry says its forces are not attacking cities. Their focus is entirely on military infrastructures.
