Brussels to grant €30 bln in aid to Kiev in 2025 — senior EU official

According to the diplomat, this €30 billion will be allocated on top of the €130 billion that the EU has already provided to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's military operation

BRUSSELS, December 17. /TASS/. The European Union plans to grant €30 billion in financial aid to Ukraine in 2025, including €18.1 billion backed by profits from frozen Russian assets, a senior EU official told reporters in Brussels ahead of the EU summit on December 19.

"Our commitment to providing financial support to Ukraine remains. In 2025, the EU will support Ukraine with approximately 30 billion euros. This includes 12.5 billion euros from the European Fund and 18.1 billion euros in profits from frozen Russian assets," he said.

According to the diplomat, this €30 billion will be allocated on top of the €130 billion that the EU has already provided to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's military operation.

The EU representative noted that Vladimir Zelensky will take part in the summit at the invitation of European Council President Antonio Costa.

The diplomat also underlined that the main message of the upcoming summit on Ukraine is a continued commitment to supporting Kiev.

"This is a critical moment. The EU must persist with military aid, ensure energy security, and maintain sanctions pressure on Russia. The EU stands by Ukraine to ensure it holds the strongest possible position for future developments. Ukraine must determine its own future. Our position remains clear: no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine," he added.
