Poland shouldn’t send troops to Ukraine, senior security official says

According to the security official, Ukraine will not be able to retake territories from Russia, even if Kiev calls up more soldiers

MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. Poland shouldn’t send troops to Ukraine, Polish National Security Bureau chief Jacek Siewiera said on TVN24 television.

"At this time, any involvement of Polish troops in Ukraine should be ruled out," he said.

According to the security official, Ukraine will not be able to retake territories from Russia, even if Kiev calls up more soldiers.

"There would still be too little manpower to recapture, as part of a counteroffensive, the territories that have been taken," he said.

On 25 November, Le Monde reported that European countries had resumed discussions on the possible deployment of their troops or fighters from private military companies to Ukraine. That happened because the US could stop supporting Ukraine after Donald Trump takes office as president on January 20, 2025. According to the report, these talks resumed after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited France on November 11.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said foreign military contingents in Ukraine would raise the risk of extremely negative consequences, which could even be irreversible.
