At least 15 civilians killed in Israeli attack on Damascus — report

BEIRUT, November 14. /TASS/. At least 15 Syrians were killed and 16 others wounded in an Israeli missile strike on the western districts of Damascus, the SANA news agency reported, citing a statement from the Syrian armed forces.

"The Israeli enemy made an aggressive attack from the occupied Golan Heights at 3:20 p.m. local time," the statement said. "Enemy missiles were launched toward a number of residential buildings on Mezze Avenue in the capital and in the Qudssaya neighborhood on the outskirts of Damascus, killing 15 people and wounding 16 others, including women and children. Significant damage was done to the buildings that were hit."

Earlier, Sky News Arabia television reported that Israeli jets attacked the headquarters of the Islamic Jihad in Damascus, killing four people. According to the report, the airstrike aimed to eliminate one of the leaders of Palestinian radicals.

Dubai-based Al Hadath television reported that missiles were also fired at the Qudssaya neighborhood, which is located on the old Damascus-Beirut highway near Mount Qasioun. It said the strike targeted an Islamic Jihad military base.
