Armenia never discussed joining NATO, strengthens ties with EU

At the same time, Alen Simonyan pointed out that Armenia is trying to "buy weapons in all possible places"

YEREVAN, February 29. /TASS/. The Armenian authorities have never discussed the possibility of joining NATO, but are strengthening relations with the EU, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said at a briefing.

"There has been no discussion about NATO, we have not discussed such a thing within our team. As for the European Union, it is not a military alliance, we are ready to strengthen relations with it. Today, democracy is our greatest security system," he said.

At the same time, Simonyan pointed out that Armenia is trying to "buy weapons in all possible places." "If anyone is embarrassed by this, it is their problem," he added.
