DPR head says security deals between Zelensky, West hollow

According to Denis Pushilin, the signed documents indicate how tired the West is of Ukraine, which took in huge amounts of material resources but did deliver any results

MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. The agreements on security guarantees that Berlin and Paris have concluded with Kiev have no substance to them, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, expressed his opinion.

"Compared to what we saw before, there is a complete lack of any specifics. Allegedly, there will be some kind of weapons, some kind of coalitions, drones, air defense. There are even some agreements on common security with France and Germany. But they are so vague, without any specifics, rather snide language. <...> Legally, this is worthless," Pushilin said on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

According to the head of the region, the signed documents indicate how tired the West is of Ukraine, which took in huge amounts of material resources but did deliver any results.

On February 16, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz signed a bilateral agreement between Berlin and Kiev on security commitments and long-term support. The deal is for 10 years and can be extended. It notes that this agreement "does not affect Ukraine's efforts" to join NATO. After that, French President Emmanuel Macron and Zelensky also signed a 10-year security agreement.

The agreement between Ukraine and France provides 3 billion euros in aid in 2024. Scholz said Berlin would provide Kiev with a 1.1 billion euro military aid package, which includes 36 howitzers, 120,000 artillery shells, 2 new air defense systems and IRIS-T missiles.
