LONDON, January 9. /TASS/. The UK and its Western allies are ready to provide aid to Ukraine for years, and will show that to Russia, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said, speaking at the Foreign Affairs Committee.
"Our commitment is such that with our allies we want to demonstrate to Putin very clearly that he cannot wait us out. That we are prepared to support Ukraine through ‘24, ‘25, ‘26. We are prepared to give that support because this is absolutely the challenge of our generation," Cameron said. "I don’t want to get into the numbers on shells and the rest of it, but add up the GDP of the countries of the coalition and we outrank Russia 25 to 1, so it should not be impossible for us to get on a sufficient industrialized footing."
He added that the UK will soon announce the size of its aid package for Ukraine for 2024.
Earlier in December, Cameron said in an interview for The Sunday Telegraph that the British government expects to at least maintain the aid for Ukraine at the previous level in 2024. In 2022, London provided Ј2.3 billion worth of aid for Kiev and vowed to spend at least the same figure for military purposes in 2023. However, such obligations for 2024 have not been announced yet.
