Israel attacks more than 150 Hamas targets in Gaza in past day — IDF

Among other targets, the Israeli military struck radicals’ infrastructure where weapons and ammunition were detected, located a cache of mortars and ammunition and destroyed tunnel shafts and launch pits

TEL AVIV, December 18. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked more than 150 targets in the course of its military operation against the Palestinian radical movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the IDF reported.

"The IDF struck more than 150 terror targets in the Gaza Strip, using ground, air, and naval troops," the IDF said in a statement.

Among other targets, the Israeli military struck radicals’ infrastructure where weapons and ammunition were detected, located a cache of mortars and ammunition and destroyed tunnel shafts and launch pits. In addition, an IDF aircraft identified a "suspicious terrorist cell" in the Khan Yunis area in the southern enclave, killing a sniper in an air strike, the Israeli army said.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel started carrying out strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. On December 1, the IDF accused Hamas of breaching the terms of their November 24 truce agreement and resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian authorities put the blame for resumed Israeli aggression on the United States.
