TEL AVIV, December 13. /TASS/. Israeli security forces have apprehended 17 suspected terrorists during counterterrorism raids in the West Bank, with seven of the suspects being linked to the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
"The IDF, General Security Service and Border Police conducted a night operation across Judea and Samaria (Israel’s name for the West Bank - TASS) and detained 17 wanted terrorism suspects, seven of whom are linked to the Hamas terrorist organization," the press service said.
The IDF added that a major operation is underway in the Jenin refugee camp, going on for the last 30 hours. During the operation, Israeli security forces have searched more than 400 buildings, found and seized about 30 weapons, munitions and military equipment, the military said. Furthermore, during the raid, six workshops making explosives, several shafts of underground tunnels and four observation posts were located and then destroyed.
Four Israeli soldiers suffered shrapnel wounds during the Jenin operation. They received medical aid on the spot and were then hospitalized, the IDF press service added.
