CAIRO, December 8. /TASS/. Supporters of the armed wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, have carried out another missile attack on Tel Aviv, the radical group said on its Telegram channel.
"The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades have once again attacked Tel Aviv with missiles," the message said, adding that "the missiles were fired in retaliation to the [Israeli forces’] massacre of Palestinian civilians."
Additionally, the radicals claimed to have opened mortar fire on several Israeli combat vehicles near the town of Khan Yunis and on the outskirts of Gaza. In the Al-Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza’s Old City, supporters of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades "attacked enemy infantry."
The group also said that Israel’s bombardment of several neighborhoods in Gaza City "resulted in the death and injuries of a number of hostages" held by radicals in the enclave.
Tensions flared up in the Middle East after Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israeli territory on October 7, when many Israelis living in the settlements near the border were killed and over 200 people, including children, women and the elderly, were taken hostage. Hamas views its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ steps against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
