BEIRUT, November 24. /TASS/. Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinians in Beit Hanoun in the northeastern Gaza Strip, according to Al Mayadeen television.
According to the TV channel, residents of the city took to the streets after a humanitarian ceasefire began to assess the scale of the devastation. The Israeli military had threatened to use weapons, should anyone approach its troops deployed in this city. They reportedly opened fire on Palestinians in a city neighborhood. No information about casualties is available.
On November 22, the Palestinian radical movement Hamas announced reaching an agreement with Israel on a four-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, mediated by Qatar and Egypt. The deal would see the release of 50 Israeli women and children, aged under 19, from the Palestinian enclave in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinian women, children and teenagers under 19 years of age from Israeli prisons.
The Arab media reported that the truce began in the Gaza Strip on 7:00 a.m. local time (5:00 a.m. GMT) on Friday.
