MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. It is impossible to resolve the Ukraine conflict without taking into account the rights of the Russian-speaking population, similar to how the conflict in the Middle East cannot be settled without recognizing the rights of the Palestinians, said Viktor Medvedchuk, the former leader of the now-banned Ukrainian party Opposition Platform - For Life who now heads The Other Ukraine movement.
"It is impossible to settle the situation in the Middle East unless the rights of the Palestinians and Muslims in general are recognized. The Ukraine conflict cannot come to an end until the rights of the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine, who the regime of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky is defiantly wiping out, are recognized," Medvedchuk wrote in his column on the Smotrim.ru platform.
According to Medvedchuk, Zelensky indulged himself in "the blatantly Neanderthal policy of Russophobia," but this has produced "the opposite effect and led to systemic resistance."
"The Russophobia of Zelensky’s Nazi regime, despite unprecedented support from the West, has galvanized Russia, made it stronger and contrasted Moscow with Washington," Medvedchuk wrote. Moreover, the United States has failed to defeat Russia, and has lost Ukraine, he believes.
"Today’s Ukraine cannot be called a state, neither in the political nor the economic sense. This entity cannot exist independently without multi-billion-dollar injections and uncompromising political support," he stressed. At the same time, he says, these injections and support have also "fully corrupted the Ukrainian political elite," which believes that the flow of funds and weapons will never end and labels any criticism as pro-Russian propaganda.
