Russian envoy summoned to Latvian Foreign Ministry over accusations of airspace violation

VILNIUS, November 7. /TASS/. Russian Charge d’Affaires in Latvia Oleg Zykov has been summoned to the Latvian Foreign Ministry over a suspected violation of the country’s airspace by a Russian aircraft, Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karinsh said.

"Yesterday a violation of Latvian airspace by an aircraft belonging to Russia was detected. Today, the Head of the Embassy of Russia was summoned to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented with a protest note," the top diplomat wrote on his page on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter).

According to the Latvian Defense Ministry, air force radar on Monday detected a violation of Latvian airspace near the border with Russia by a Russian military aircraft. It said the plane returned to Russian territory after crossing the border.
