DUBAI, November 2. /TASS/. Fierce clashes between militant fighters of the radical Palestinian Hamas movement and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers are ongoing in the northern section of the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera television reported, citing sources.
Meanwhile, Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said on its Telegram channel that its fighters struck an Israeli tank surrounded by several soldiers in the Juhor ad-Dik area in the eastern Gaza Strip. Earlier on Thursday, the group announced strikes on a tank, a bulldozer and two IDF armored vehicles in northwestern Gaza.
IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Wednesday that the Jewish state's forces had managed to break through Hamas’ defensive line in northern Gaza. In turn, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades reported more clashes with the Israeli military in the southern and northwestern sectors of the enclave.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank. On October 27, Hagari announced the expansion of Israel’s military ground operation in Gaza.
