Continued Arab-Israeli conflict may trigger upheaval in region — King of Jordan

"The international community should take urgent measures and pressure Israel into stopping the war, protecting civilians and ceasing the blockade of the Gaza Strip," Abdullah II noted

BEIRUT, October 25. /TASS/. Continuing the armed conflict between Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian radical group Hamas may provoke an outbreak of violence in the entire Middle Eastern region, King Abdullah II of Jordan said at talks with French President Emmanuel Macron during the latter’s visit to Amman.

"Continuing the war in the Gaza Strip may lead to the situation exploding in the entire Middle Eastern region. Halting this conflict is highly necessary and the world should urgently begin moving in that direction," the Petra news agency quoted the monarch as saying.

"The international community should take urgent measures and pressure Israel into stopping the war, protecting civilians and ceasing the blockade of the Gaza Strip," Abdullah II added. He also warned about the worsening humanitarian situation in the region and stressed the importance of providing aid to the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the King of Jordan again rejected any attempt to relocate the enclave’s residents or force them to do so.
