US Department of State also blacklisted heads of dozens of Russian regions and nine ministers

WASHINGTON, February 24. /TASS/. The US Department of State is imposing visa restrictions on 1,219 members of the Russian military, according to a statement published on Friday.

"The Department is announcing steps to impose visa restrictions on 1,219 members of Russia’s military for actions that threaten or violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or political independence of Ukraine," the statement reads.

According to the document, the blacklist particularly includes Russian military officials Atryom Gorodilov, Alexey Bulgakov and Alexander Vasilyev. "Under this authority, Gorodilov, Bulgakov, and Vasilyev, and their immediate family members, are ineligible for entry into the United States," the department said.

In January, the Department of State introduced similar restrictions against 531 members of the Russian military.

The blacklist particularly includes Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Alexander Tsybulsky, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Region Mikhail Degtyaryov, Governor of the Primorsky Region Oleg Kozhemyako, and Governor of the Krasnodar Region Veniamin Kondratyev.

Sanctions will also apply to the heads of the Amur, Astrakhan, Ivanovo, Irkutsk, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Kirov, Kostroma, Kurgan, Magadan, Murmansk, Omsk, Oryol, Penza, Pskov, Ryazan, Tver, Tomsk, Saratov, Sakhalin, Ulyanovsk and Yaroslav regions, as well as the Adygea, Altai, Buryatia, Chukotka, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Kalmykia, Kamchatka, Karachay-Circassian, Karelia, Khakassia, Khanty-Mansiysk, Mari El, Modrovia, Nenets, Perm, Tuva, Trans-Baikal and Udmurt regions.

Sanctions have also been imposed on Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev, Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov, Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov and Minister of Far East and Arctic Development Alexey Chekunkov.
