MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Up to 44% of citizens in Paris expressed their negative opinion about the organization of the Summer Olympic Games in the French capital next year, Reuters news agency reported on Tuesday citing a data collected by Odoxa social survey company.
According to the agency, "Some 44% of Paris region residents expressed a negative opinion while 65% of French residents said having the Olympics in Paris from July 26-Aug. 11 was a 'good thing.'"
According to Reuters, major concerns voiced by the pollsters regarding the organization of the Olympic Games in Paris were about the transportation and security issues during the anticipated Games in the French capital.
"Two years ago, only 22% of Parisians had a negative opinion of the Paris Olympics while more than half of them are now considering leaving the region for the duration of the event," Reuters added.
About 1,207 people residing in the Paris region and over 1,000 of French residents from other areas of the country took part in the survey.
After the Japanese capital of Tokyo hosted the Olympic flame at the 2020 Summer Games, it is set to travel to Paris for the Summer Games in 2024, and then to Los Angeles in 2028. In 2021, at the 138th IOC (the International Olympic Committee) session in Tokyo, Australia’s Brisbane was selected to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games.
