Indian long-liver released at age of 104 after spending 36 years in prison

"Now I have come out, I can do justice to my passion - attending plants in the small garden in my courtyard," Rasikt Mondal noted

NEW DELHI, December 4. /TASS/. A long-living Indian citizen has been released from prison at the age of 104 after spending a third of a century behind bars, the PTI news agency reported.

Rasikt Mondal was sentenced in 1988 on charges of killing his brother over a land dispute. He was released on bail for a year but then returned to prison as Indian courts rejected his release appeals.

"I don't remember how many years I had spent in jail. It seemed never-ending. I don't even recall when I was brought here," the man said. Relatives and staff at the facility confirmed his age as 104 years old.

"Now I have come out, I can do justice to my passion - attending plants in the small garden in my courtyard. I missed my family and grandchildren. Want to be with them," Mondal added.
