BUENOS AIRES, December 5. /TASS/. The City Council of Porto Alegre, the capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, has passed a law, the text of which was entirely written with the help of ChatGPT artificial intelligence, the G1 news portal reported.
It indicates that the document was created by a neural network at the request of city council member Ramiro Rosario. The bill allows the municipality not to charge taxpayers for the replacement of water meters if they are stolen. The document has already been approved by the council and signed by Mayor Sebastiau Melu.
City Council members, the mayor and citizens only found out that the bill was developed by a neural network after it was passed, G1 writes. "Our strategy was not to tell anyone that artificial intelligence did it, we just <...> wanted to conduct an experiment," Rosario noted to the portal. He added that in the next few years, society is facing "a revolution in various fields thanks to artificial intelligence and politics will not be left out of these changes."
American company OpenAI introduced the ChatGPT service in 2022. It interacts with users in a dialogue mode. The chatbot can answer clarifying questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect assumptions, and reject inappropriate requests. The service's capabilities have attracted widespread public attention, including in Russia.
