Damaged railway bridge repaired in Russia’s Belgorod Region bordering on Ukraine

According to the local Ministry of Roads and Transport, three repair and relief trains and 150 people were involved in the repair works

MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. A damaged railway bridge in Russia’s Belgorod Region on the border with Ukraine has been repaired and the first train was dispatched on this route on Tuesday, the local Ministry of Roads and Transport reported in a statement.

"The railway bridge on the Belgorod-Razumnoye stretch has been restored. A first train was dispatched in this direction following a break," the statement reads adding that three repair and relief trains and 150 people were involved in the repair works of the previously damaged bridge.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the head of the Belgorod Region, announced on April 12 that railway tracks have been damaged in the district of Shebekino. Russian Railways (RZhD) reported later that day that a railway bridge had been damaged as a result of an incident in the district of Shebekino. Investigators probe into the cause of the incident.

Shebekino borders on the Kharkov Region in Ukraine. The Belgorod Region declared earlier this month a heightened terrorist alert level. People were advised against visiting crowded places, take a note of unknown people as well as of suspicious cars parked near residential areas, and to carry ID papers outdoors and in public transportation.
