MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. NATO has made Russia the target of its aggressive policies, while using Ukraine as an anti-Russian tool, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, has told TASS.
Thursday marks the 75th anniversary of NATO’s founding. Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on the eve of the anniversary that military aid to Ukraine should be binding rather than voluntary for the alliance’s members.
"This confirms the alliance’s anti-Russian nature. Secondly, it confirms that Ukraine is being used as a tool. [Stoltenberg’s] statements serve as proof, as evidence substantiating the ideas, which we have been expressing for quite a while and which NATO regularly denied," she said. "This is an aggressive bloc aimed against our country. There are other countries and areas [of interest], but our country is their primary target."
